Graduated from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Broadcasting.
After gaining experience producing TV commercials and web commercials at a major production company, he is now with CyberAgent Inc., creating promotional videos and opening sequences for AbemaTV, as well as videos for events.
He is also a frequent speaker at video-related events.
I work on video production at CyberAgent.
For example, I create promotional videos for AbemaTV programs, videos for social media, and visuals for events.
I spoke at an event called VIDEOGRAPHERS TOKYO. My talk was about motion graphics — covering its history and introducing some of the recent trends in the field.
I often use a pen tablet, but scrolling and certain operations weren’t as smooth as I wanted. I was looking for a good device and came across Orbital2. The design immediately caught my eye, and I loved the fact that the Glow Ring’s color(※) could be changed. I set different colors for different creative software and enjoy customizing it to fit my workflow.
※Glow Ring: a full-color LED light built into Orbital2.
I thought, “This is it!” It works exactly as I want. I use Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve, and as long as I can assign shortcuts, Orbital2 works perfectly with all of them. It’s incredibly convenient.
Because Orbital2 can do so many things, creating your first profile can be a bit tricky. But it comes with default profiles you can start from, and customizing them to your liking is great.
For Premiere Pro, I use it for timeline zoom, adjusting track height for both video and audio, moving the in/out points, and jumping between markers. Basically, if there’s a shortcut, Orbital2 can handle it.
In After Effects, I assign actions like zooming in/out of the composition or view, and moving between keyframes. Orbital2 makes these tasks smooth.
Being able to change the Glow Ring color is very helpful. For example, I set purple tones for Premiere Pro or After Effects, and blue tones for Photoshop. That way, I instantly know which software and profile I’m using.
Yes! I also use it when browsing the web — for page navigation, switching tabs, zooming in/out, and scrolling. Orbital2’s strength is that it can be used in everyday situations, not just creative work.
For example, I use it with a tool called Tray Volume, which changes the system volume. By assigning its shortcuts to Orbital2, I can adjust volume easily with my left hand.
I think there’s still a lot more I can do. For example, I haven’t completed my After Effects profile yet, so I want to keep fine-tuning it to make it even more efficient.
Orbital2 works with a wide range of creative software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and CINEMA 4D. I think it will become an essential device for future motion designers.
